Do You Have Unresolved Trauma?

Do you feel like you’re living in ‘protector mode?’ As we get older and move through life, it becomes almost impossible to escape trauma. How we deal with and process these events and emotions can continue to affect us, our life choices and our relationships in ways we may not even be aware of.

More often than not, we build walls around our pain, we detach from it in order to ‘soldier onwards,’ and those walls we build get higher and higher in an attempt to prevent future discomfort.

We all develop different coping mechanisms when it comes to pain and trauma. We become pro’s at blocking these emotions- we reach for that glass of wine at night, fill up our social calendars, or even place ourselves on regimented wellness regimes that we assume is doing the work for us.

Does this sound familiar to you?

Believe it or not, no amount of kale and crossfit can heal the deeper issues at play.

Perhaps you have tried all the wellness trends and fads and found nothing works?

That’s because these can simply be masking the deeper issues at play.

Unresolved emotions will show up where they can. They will show up in gut issues, skin issues, how we sleep at night or that niggling lower back pain. They show up in our relationships, in the way we act when we feel triggered, in the way we play small and miss out on opportunities, or how we shy away from really getting close to people.

We become so good at controlling our emotions that we become overly controlling of ALL areas in our life. We can’t relax, we can’t let go of the reins, we can’t ever enjoy the present moment as we are too busy controlling the next one.

One key thing to understand is that you don’t need to feel broken or depressed to have trauma. You can be leading a normal happy life, yet you know something is there, something is holding you back from reaching your full potential in all areas of your life.

As women we often get praised for being ‘resilient.’ However, being resilient isn’t really the answer when it comes to healing.

Softening, opening, allowing and taking time to dive deeper inwards in a safe and supportive space is the key to really moving forwards.

Healing is about gathering up all the exiled parts of yourself that you have banished or ignored and becoming whole again, without the guilt, shame, stress and pain.

What’s most important to remember is that you’re not alone in your journey and that there is freedom on the other side, even when the journey feels scary.

Soothing the nervous system is the most powerful way to allow your body time and space to process and heal. Yoga, meditation, sleep, good nutrition, massage and proper rest is a wonderful place to start.

Working with professional healers can allow you to go deeper and experience a much more effective healing journey. Reiki, Ayurveda, Colourpuncture, Balinese Healing, Ceremonies and Rituals that allow you to let go of the old and embrace the new are incredibly potent and powerful to allow you to move through this process safely.

Remember- “The cave you fear to enter holds the most exquisite treasures.”

Saying yes to healing is saying I’m ready to uplevel. I’m ready to stop playing small. I’m ready to open up to the fullness of life.

Experts agree that when we shut down one emotion and move into a frozen state, it’s not just that one emotion you’re protecting yourself against that gets shut down; your whole emotional life gets limited.

Saying yes to healing, is reclaiming your passion, your power and your purpose.

It is the most important thing you can do.
